Thank you, Kenya Methodist University, for this powerful recognition of a partnership rooted in purpose, resilience, and shared responsibility. The launch of the KeMU cluster of the Community Policing Initiative is more than a milestone, it’s a living example of what happens when academic leadership, student voices, law enforcement, and community wisdom converge around a common goal: safety and trust.
As a proud student in the Department of Criminology and Security Management, I was deeply honored to co-lead this transformative engagement alongside Dr. Evans Mwiti, Prof. Ken Mugambi, KEMU’s Chief Security Officer Mr.Stanley, Mr. Hillary Mukasa, KEMU vibrant ICT teams and our dynamic student leaders—Madam President Safi Galm, Chris Kinyatti, Secretary General Ian Mwita, and Accomodation Secretary Rubby Mercy among many others whose voices and energy continue to shape a safer, more inclusive campus community. The presence of Chief Inspector Julius Mutabari, OCPD Adano and the police officers, Ahmed Barre, and Eric Muthomi from RPPL, The Land Lords, Nyumba Kumi and Community Policing representatives, Elders and the Religious Leaders reinforced our commitment to inclusive, multi-stakeholder collaboration.
This initiative, anchored in the Usalama Ni Uaminifu Program and supported by the GCERF has already begun transforming how security is understood and practiced across student residential areas through structured dialogue, trust-building sports, and joint safety committees, we are co-creating a model that is both responsive and sustainable.
Together, we are proving that community-driven solutions are not just possible, they are powerful. Thank you for walking with us from trust to transformation.
