Dr. Lily Masinde is a Lecturer of Public Health in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the current Chair of Department of Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics. Her research interests are in community, environmental, and occupational health, as well as food safety with a focus on mycotoxins and disease. She is a holder of the following professional certifications: ISO Food Safety System Certification 22000 accredited by Charted Quality Institute and International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA); Occupational Health and Safety Auditor accredited by IRCA; and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Kenya. She is also a certified HIV Testing and Prevention Services Counsellor (NASCOP).
She serves on the following professional bodies and committees: Kenya Nutrition and Dietetics Institute (KNDI); Public Health Officers & Technicians Council (PHOTC); Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS)Technical Committee for Nutritional Content, Condiments and Food Contaminants; and the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (PACA).
Dr. Masinde is a research affiliate of the KEMU Participatory Action Research Group (PARG) on Transforming Universities for a Changing Climate (Climate-U), and the Patron of the Medical Students Public Health Awareness Cohort Association (MACA). She has taught and implemented programmes on public health issues including, nutrition and hygiene management in disease; assessment of occupational health hazards in workplaces; food safety hazard assessment in food chains (HACCP), and promotive and preventive health care in communities.
