Biography

Dr. Mugambi is a lecturer at the Department of Public Health, Human Nutrition & Dietetics Department, with a passion for promotion of a healthy society through Education and public health talk sessions to ensure that people consume healthy foods and adopt healthy lifestyles in order to keep themselves healthy, avoid lifestyle diseases and be more productive for a prosperous nation. He joined the University in 2014 and since then he has been teaching across the three bachelor’s programmes and supervising Research for both undergraduate and post graduate students. Since 2018 he has been the Departmental postgraduate coordinator while also guiding students in research.

He is a God fearing person, who is results oriented, recognizes and values teamwork and integration of efforts, skills and services as key tools for optimal work output and performance. Being a lecturer offers him the best opportunity to pass on knowledge to his students and broaden the base of positive change agents for a healthier and prosperous society.

He is of high integrity and possess several skills including; good verbal and written communication skills, excellent planning and organizing skills and good leadership skills. In addition he possesses the following strengths; getting along well with others, being proactive, personal drive, team player, self-disciplined, responsible, compassionate, hardworking, trustworthy and confident.

He is a dedicated nutrition professional with ambition to serve and share knowledge with others in order to create a lasting positive impact in the lives of people in the society.

Previously he has worked with the Ministry of Health as a senior nutrition officer where he worked with other government employees to plan and implement several nutrition projects. He also headed a number of nutrition programmes including; Nutrition in HIV/AIDS, Infant and Young Child Nutrition, Nutrition in Emergency and Relief, Clinical Nutrition, Micronutrients, Maternal Nutrition, Nutrition Education and Operational Research.
