Enock Kipkirui, a sixth-year student pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, has mastered the art of balancing two demanding worlds- medicine and football. While medical school requires discipline, long hours of study and intense clinical training, Enock has equally dedicated himself to his passion for football. He became one of KeMU’s most reliable goal scorers.
When he first stepped onto the pitch as a freshman in 2021, there was no denying the talent in his feet. Even as a doctor in the making, he proved to be a clinical finisher on the field. That year, he participated in the FKF Eastern Regional League, where his classic goals helped KeMU gain promotion to the FKF Division 2 League. Alongside Meshach “Star Boy” Ochieno, Godfrey “Messi” Mugambi, and Isaac Jacob, the KeMU attacking force became razor sharp.
Despite the pressure of medical books, Enock realised the power of exercise through football. In 2022, he represented KeMU at the Eastern Africa University Games held at Ndejje University in Uganda. In 2023, his impressive performances earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award during the Daktari Cup held at the University of Nairobi.
His football journey continued to rise even as his medical training became more demanding. In 2025, he emerged as the top scorer for the KeMU team in the FKF Meru County League. His goals played a major role in helping the team secure promotion to the FKF Eastern Conference League, a merger of the FKF Regional League and FKF Division 2 League.
Enock has also been a constant threat to defenders in the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) competitions. This year, his eye for goal saw him awarded the Betika Meru County Challenge Golden Boot 2026 after finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with 11 goals. His sublime goals have left many fans mesmerized. Throughout his time at KeMU, he has consistently delivered memorable performances on the pitch.
Balancing medicine and football is never easy, but Enock’s dedication, discipline, intelligence and dual-talented nature has enabled him to excel in two high-pressure and mentally demanding fields. As he continues chasing success both in academics and in football, he remains an inspiration to many students who dream of pursuing their passion while excelling in their careers.
