Campus Director’s Remarks

Kenya Methodist University was founded by the Methodist Church in Kenya and was chartered in June 2006 the Commission for Higher Education. Nakuru Campus of Kenya Methodist University was established in 2005 with approximately fifteen (15) students as pioneers at the campusand has since witnessed phenomenal growth. The Campus was initially located at Nacha Plaza after which it relocated to Mache Plaza, 4th Floor in the year 2007. In the endeavor to promote our mission of providing high quality education, the University further acquired space on the adjacent Tamoh Plaza’s, 4th floor to meet the need for adequate facilities. Currently, the campus is housed on the fourth floors of Mache and Tamoh plazas, located between the Eldoret-Nairobi Highway and on Kijabe Row within Nakuru Town’s Central Business District.

Research Activities
Members of teaching staff are engaged in research activities including basic and applied research to address business-related challenges not only within the County but the country at large.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In line with the objectives of the University, the Campus carries out outreach programmes to the community, as a way of engaging with the society. This is achieved through partnerships and sponsorships of various activities within Nakuru County as well as the neighboring counties. Past activities include: partnership with the Nakuru Prisons to enroll qualified inmates to pursue academic studies; celebration of the International Women’s Day at the Women Prison in 2014; commemoration of the World Aids Day Nakuru Main Prison; awards of trophies to best performing schools in the county; sponsorship of academic oriented activities/events organized within the county; and participation in environmental protection activities organized by the County among others. The Campus also in the recent past has visited Arap Moi Children’s Home and Nakuru Remand Children’s home.


The University continues to attract, recruit and retain highly qualified academic and professional staff for quality service delivery. In Nakuru Campus, the staff establishment is comprised of twenty six staff members.The Campus Director is Dr. Susan Chelangat Nzioki. The Campus comprises 26 staff members engaged in various fields of the academic and administrative departments.


The library provides requisite facilities for students, lecturers, staff and other authorized users as a convenient and conducive place for research and study. It creates an ambience appropriate for studies and conducive for learning. It has incorporated ICT needs and functions as an integral part of the design concept including trunking, cabling and wireless connectivity. It also has adequate emergency and fire safety measures.

Admission Requirements

The office of Registrar (Academic Affairs) processes admissions for all levels of the University. The following are the requirements for admission into various programmes of the University.

  • Pre-University programme

Applicants must possess a minimum of grade C- (Minus) in KCSE or an equivalent qualification.

  • Diploma programmes

The minimum requirement for entry into KeMU diploma programme is a C (plain) in KCSE or an equivalent qualification.

  • Undergraduate Programmes

To join KeMU Bachelor's programme a candidate needs a C+ (plus) and above in KCSE or an equivalent qualification.

  • Postgraduate Programmes

The entry requirement is a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Institution of Higher Learning with a First Class or Second Class Honours (Upper Division), Second Class Honours (Lower Division) and a two year’s working experience in the same field.

KEMUSO Student Activities

KeMUSO is a student body that works with Student welfare office and helps in governing student activities. It comprises of the student Chairperson, Christian Fellowship chairperson, General Secretary and Sports and entertainment secretary. These leaders are nominated and are voted in a free and fair election as stipulated in the revised KeMUSO constitution. With support from the director’s office the student body has been able to coordinate mentorship programmes with Credit Bank on financial empowerment, Avenue Hospital on Cancer awareness, Google on internet skills. They have also been able coordinate CSR activities at the Arap Moi Children’s Home and Nakuru Children’s Remand Home. A culmination of 2017 events was a colorful Mr.  & Miss KeMU Beauty pageant held at the Campus common Hall. Our very active Music clubs have been able to attend The Kenya Nation Music Festivals held at Nairobi Kasarani gymnasium where they gave an exemplary performance and also the Methodist church Music competition where they qualified for the nationals in Mombasa. The students normally attend weekend challenge at the main campus and gospel concert at Nairobi campus. They also go for inter campus games at the main campus thereafter East African games in the selected country.
