AIESEC Kikwetu Cultural Festival

The KIKWETU CULTURAL FESTIVAL took place on Friday the 15th of July 2016 afternoon at the KeMU Towers Auditorium. We had local and international cultures represented through cultural wears while various cultural foods were displayed for sampling. The audience danced to various cultural rhythms while there were pieces represented including Chinese Dance, Somali Dance, Congolese Poem etc. In addition, there was a competition on cultural wears and food where Ethiopia scooped position 1, followed by China and Kenya took position 3.  There was a special session that incorporated candle lighting and prayers of Peace for our brothers and sisters from South Sudan. Our guests: Mr. David Aduda (Nation Media Group), Prof. Robert Gateru (VC Riara University) and Ms. Elizabeth D. Clement  (Education Attaché South Sudan Embassy) emphasized that Diversity is an asset, a strength to development and that prejudices should be done away with because above all, we are one people.

KeMU Freshmen Campus Day

KeMU Nairobi Campus held its second trimester campus day on 17th June 2016 to welcome the first years at Paradise Lost grounds. The Campus day is a one of a kind event where the new students get to interact with the campus management, staff as well as continuing students in a more laid back environment. The event was held in conjunction with the Kubamba Krew who brought in their DJs and MCs to give the event a Christian and inspiring twist. The campus Principal Dr. Risper Orero as well as the Depuy Registrar A, P & D Faith Mutwiri were in attendance and interacted freely with the students in various activities and games.

2016 Graduation

Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) will hold its 16th Graduation ceremony on Saturday, 23rd July 2016, 10.00 a.m. at the Main Campus, Meru. Graduands must be seated at the graduation square by 9.00 a.m.

Department of Hospitality Practicals

Hospitality Students demonstrating their culinary skills

The Department of Hospitality offers a program that combines practical experience with classroom theory to assist the students to gain the understanding, skills, and techniques needed to qualify for job opportunities. We offer a whole host of hospitality and catering qualifications including professional cookery, food safety and more. The students have their practical sessions with our in-house Chef Jimmy who guides them from preparation of the food to serving. The practicals are usually done every Tuesday and the meals prepared served to both staff and students.

One of our students is a Grace Hopper Scholarship winner

A student in the Computer Information System Department in Nairobi Campus, Ms Nyariak Deng', has received a full scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Conference in the US in October 2016. The Grace Hopper Conference is the largest gathering of women technologist in the world, hosting over 8000 attendees and over 100 Tech companies. It is produced by the Anita Borg Institute and presented in partnership with the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).
Nyariak's application was selected through an international and highly competitive process. Considering the stellar applications that Grace Hopper receives, it is a great achievement for Nyariak. Ms Nyariak Deng' was mentored by Dr Chao Mbogo (Lecturer- School of Science and Technology), who has also received partial scholarship to attend and present at the conference.

Mombasa Campus Career Day

On Thursday 26th May and Friday 27th May 2016, KeMU Mombasa Campus carried out a Career Day Event at St Charles Lwanga in Changamwe. The occasion was graced by Hon. Hassan Omar Mwinyi MP Changamwe. The Students were advised on various career paths they could pursue at the University and encouraged to register for the fully accredited courses offered upon completion of their K.C.S.E exams and Secondary school education.

KeMUSO Induction

On Thursday 26th May 2016, the Vice Chancellor Professor Kirimi Kiriamiti,the Deputy Vice Chancellor (AA) Professor Peter Mageto, the Ag. Dean of Students Mr. Jeff Kubai Ikiambah together with the University Senior Managment received the KeMUSO Student Leaders from the five campuses for an Induction training.They Learnt about the managment and functionality of the  various University  Structures through interaction with Heads of Departments as well as the senior management.The Induction ended on Friday 27th May 2016.

KeMU Students Participate in KUSA Central games

KeMU students from Main campus and Nyeri campus participated in the KUSA- Central games that were held at Meru University on 28th and 29th May. The University was represented by teams in Soccer, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Handball and Volleyball from main campus and Badminton and Tennis from Nyeri Campus.

The Dean of Students Mr. Jeff Kubai Ikiamba congratulated the students and encouraged them to balance between academics and co-curricular activities.We thank the University and the Vice Chancellor for the immense support.

County Government donates books to KeMU

On Friday 13th May, 2016, we witnessed the giving out of books from the County Government of Meru to KeMU. The occasion was graced by His Excellency the Governor of Meru County Peter Munya among other guests. Also present to receive the books was KeMU’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Kirimi Kiriamiti flanked by Jeff Kubai Dean of Students,the CoD Theology Rev. Mwenda, staff from student welfare, Marketing, Theology departments among others and students.

Receiving the Books, Prof. Kiriamiti thanked the County Government and His Excellency the Governor for seeing it fit to link the donors with KeMU and also footing the books transportation cost from Britain. Prof. Kiriamiti reminded those present that KeMU was the University of Choice and asked them to join any programme including the Digital Campus.

Rugby Donations

On Thursday 19th May 2016, the Vice Chancellor Professor Kirimi Kiriamiti received rugby balls and water bottles that were donated to the University through the Deputy Vice Chancellor (AA) Professor Peter Mageto. The donations were then handed over to the Ag. Dean of Students Mr. Jeff Kubai Ikiambah who was delighted to receive them on behalf of our Rugby champions and the sports department.The donations will go a long way to boost the morale of the players who are engaged in various Rugby Competitions.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of games and sports in the University.
