Strides of A Difference Charity Walk

Kenya Methodist Agriculture and Rural Development Club(KARD) organized a charity walk on Satuday,22nd October 2016.The walk was flagged off by The Vice Chancellor Prof.Kirimi H. Kiriamiti,club patron Dr.Mworia and The Dean of Students Mr.Jeff Kubai.The organization of the event was spearheaded by the Club chairman Mr.Isaac Ongoma and His Team.The Walk was aimed at empowering the less fortunate children within Meru County with donations of Books,Sanitary Towels,Pens and Clothes.There was immense support from the Univesity Administration and the Student Fraternity who gave out donations and made contributions to this noble Cause.The club chariman thanked the university managment and student fraternity for volunteering to make this event a success.

Blood Donation Drive 2016

The annual blood donation week will take place next week from 27th to 28th October 2016 at KeMU Towers 7th floor from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the said dates. This is an event organised by our Red Cross - KeMU Chapter students in collaboration with the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service. This is therefore an appeal to all of us to come and donate blood. Moreover queries on blood donation will be tackled by the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service staff. DONATE BLOOD_ SAVE LIFE


KeMU Taekwondo team Triumphs in the Korean Ambassadors Tournament

The KeMU Taekwondo team participated in the 2016 Korean Ambassador’s Kukkiwon Cup Taekwondo Championship in Kenya on 1st and 2nd October.KeMU performed well in the highly contested event winning several gold, silver and bronze medals.The event was graced by the Ambassador of the republic of Korea Kwon, Young -Dae.Also present was the President of Kukkiwon Oh, Hyun Deuk and sports coordinators of taekwondo and sports generals from all over the country.The KeMU Taekwondo ladies are the defending Champions of the Africa University Games and East Africa University Games.

This was also a KUSA/Taekwondo Association event

Adopt A Girl Campaign

40 mentors of the KeMU Mentorship Club participated in a Sanitary towel drive where they visited 3 schools and donated Sanitary towels to the young girls. This was an idea that was born in July 2016 when a group of mentors were concerned about the state of need amongst school going girls in regard to limited access to sanitary towels. This prompted them into action and the university management showed full support and goodwill.  The initiative was tagged “Adopt a Girl Campaign#adotpagirl. The initiative was organized by a brilliant committee chaired by Faith Wangeci, Jackson Bassey (Mr. Ghetto Kenya), Jackline Oyire (Miss KeMU Main Campus 2015/2016), Nickson Ongera (Mr. KeMU 2015/2016) and Victor Mwenda. This committee was given mandate by the Office of the Dean of Students, Mr. Jeff Kubai.

One of Our Students Awarded for Fight against FGM

One of our Postgraduate students Hon. Dr. Linah Jebii Kilimo was recently awarded by the Peacful Mind Foundation for her fight against FGM at KeMU Towers Nairobi Campus. Dr. Kilimo is also the Chair of the Anti-FGM Board Kenya and Founder of Jebii Kilimo Foundation. Students, members of Faculty and some members of senior management joined her to celebrate the award. The Award was given by Dr. Nabhit Kapur, the CEO of the Peacful Mind Foundation.

Government Sponsored Students

The Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has resolved to admit Government Sponsored Students to Private Universities with effect from 24th August 2016 in order to increase access to University Education for Kenyans. The government sponsored students can now enrol in KeMU to pursue our marketable undergraduate courses. Go to Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) website to apply

AIESEC Kikwetu Cultural Festival

The KIKWETU CULTURAL FESTIVAL took place on Friday the 15th of July 2016 afternoon at the KeMU Towers Auditorium. We had local and international cultures represented through cultural wears while various cultural foods were displayed for sampling. The audience danced to various cultural rhythms while there were pieces represented including Chinese Dance, Somali Dance, Congolese Poem etc. In addition, there was a competition on cultural wears and food where Ethiopia scooped position 1, followed by China and Kenya took position 3.  There was a special session that incorporated candle lighting and prayers of Peace for our brothers and sisters from South Sudan. Our guests: Mr. David Aduda (Nation Media Group), Prof. Robert Gateru (VC Riara University) and Ms. Elizabeth D. Clement  (Education Attaché South Sudan Embassy) emphasized that Diversity is an asset, a strength to development and that prejudices should be done away with because above all, we are one people.
